Enchanting bronze figure of a beautiful young Art Nouveau woman semi-naked wearing a wrap around skirt as she delicately plays on two pan pipes. The surface of the bronze with mid brown and golden patina, lightly worn with age, and very fine hand finished detail. Raised on a stepped circular verde antico marble base and signed E Drouot to top of naturalistic bronze base

Édouard Drouot, French 1859 ~ 1945

Edouard Drouot was born in Sommevoire / Haute Marne in 1859. The well-known sculptor was also successful as a painter. His artistic beginnings were formed in Paris after teaching at Emile Eugène Thomas (1817-1882) and Mathurin Moreau (1822 to 1912) as a sculptor. In his sculptural work, especially Drouot's portrait busts, he is known for allegorical themes, hunting scenes, and North African issues. From 1889 he exhibited at the Salons des Artistes Français. In 1892 he was awarded a medal. He was honored at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. Edouard Drouot passed away in Paris, France in 1945.
